01

We chose to keep the fireplace and its overmantel. These features of 19th-century standardised architecture are often stripped out in the name of quick modernisation.

02

Because of lead paint, the mouldings had to be taken down, then remade to measure to recover their period profile. With the Haussmann-era dados and the restored parquet, the living room regains its full character.

03

Deep-blue fronts, a pale mineral worktop, brushed-brass tapware and a traditional cement-tile floor: the kitchen carries the Haussmann-era aesthetic through.

04

In the shower room, period-style tapware, a minimal glass screen and a built-in niche give the space its structure. In the bedroom, a panoramic wallpaper dresses the wall with depth and softness.
